COCKROACHES

The most hated insect in the world

Not sure how to get rid of cockroaches? You’re not alone. Cockroaches are one of the most common household pests in the world. Cockroaches may enter houses through sewer connections, under doors, through plumbing, air ducts, or other openings in the foundations.

There are plenty of prevention methods for keeping these pests at bay, such as daily cleaning,  proper food storage and covering cracks or crevices where they may enter.

But how do you get rid of cockroaches once they have already entered your home?

Cockroaches can have an important role to play in the environment, but not in your home!

Cockroaches enter our homes in search of food, water and shelter. Once they have infested an area, they can multiply quickly, posing a threat to your comfort and health. Cockroaches are known to carry bacteria that can result in food poisoning, diarrhoea, allergies and skin rashes. So it is important to get rid of cockroaches as quickly and safely as possible.

Common Cape Town Cockroaches

Cockroaches can have an important role to play in the environment, but not in your home!

American Cockroaches are the largest of the pests, with an average size of around 4cm. They typically breed in the outside municipal drains but when the weather turns cold, these cockroaches may move indoors and can be found under kitchen sinks, seeking a warmer environment and food.

Oriental Cockroaches have an average size of around 2.3cm. They prefer dark, moist places and can often be found around decaying organic matter, in sewers, drains, under porches, in damp roofs and other damp locations.

German Cockroaches are a small species of cockroach, ranging in size from around 1.1cm – 1.6cm. The German cockroach reproduces faster than any other residential cockroach, combined with its small size and ability to hide in cracks and crevices, the German cockroach can easily infest homes, restaurants and flats. They are often found in electrical appliances, such as fridges and dishwashers, due to the heat these appliances generate.
